Who we are
WHERE COMPETITION MEETS CAMARADERIE
At Battle of the Badges, we believe that the challenges faced by law enforcement officers demand more than just training—they require community, support, and the opportunity to push boundaries in realistic scenarios. Our events bring together officers from across the nation to test their skills, learn from each other, and build bonds that last beyond the competition. Founded on the principles of commitment, continuous improvement, and camaraderie, Battle of the Badges has grown into a series of events that not only challenge participants physically and mentally but also foster a strong sense of connection within the law enforcement community.
Each event features demanding stages designed to mirror real-world problem-solving and decision-making under pressure. From precision shooting to breaching and vehicle-based scenarios, officers are pushed to their limits while being part of a supportive community that understands the dedication it takes to serve and protect
Our Founder: Preston Woodrum
Preston Woodrum has been with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Virginia since 2018, where he serves as Deputy Sheriff. Over the years, he’s taken on the roles of Assistant Team Leader on the SWAT team and Assistant Lead Firearms Instructor. With his deep commitment to law enforcement and a passion for building stronger connections within the community, Preston founded Battle of the Badges in 2022. What started as a simple idea during a conversation at the Izaak Walton League in Christiansburg has grown into something much more—a competition that brings law enforcement officers together to test their skills and form lasting bonds.
Preston’s hands-on experience in the field inspired him to create events that reflect real-world scenarios officers face on duty, like vehicle-based engagements. But more than just a competition, Battle of the Badges has become a place for officers to support and learn from each other in an environment that promotes both personal growth and professional development.
After the 2024 event, Preston partnered with Team One Network to take Battle of the Badges to the next level. Together, they’re expanding the competition from a single annual event into a nationwide series. This partnership came naturally, as Preston’s mission to bring officers together and enhance their skills aligns perfectly with Team One Network’s values of training and community.
